Stephanie Hsia

Stephanie strives to bring scientific rigor, ecological diversity, and visual acuity to her projects. Growing up in New Jersey, she loved to spend time amongst the fruit trees in her father’s backyard garden space. At Rice University in Houston, she studied biology and art and later received a MS in Environmental Science and Management from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She spent a few years working on renewable energy permitting and green infrastructure projects before proceeding to earn her MLA from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she won a 2013 ASLA Honor Award in General Design for her student project Aqua Delta. A summer intern for Reed Hilderbrand in 2014, her research that year was recognized with a 2015 ASLA Honor Award in Research for “The State of City Soils.” A member of Reed Hilderbrand since 2015, Stephanie has led the development of the City of Cambridge’s Urban Forest Master Plan, a bicycle and pedestrian greenway in Tampa Florida, and a private waterfront residence in New Hampshire. She has been a guest lecturer and critic at University of Pennsylvania and The Rhode Island School of Design. Stephanie always tries to keep a small garden wherever she is and ventures to local beaches year-round with her dog Midnight.
