Garrett Craig-Lucas

Garrett grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and near Annapolis, Maryland, where early exposure to working waterfronts sparked a lifelong interest in the dynamic relationship between cities and ports. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University and recently completed his Master of Landscape Architecture II at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. 

Garrett spent several years in Rotterdam, where he worked for a local firm while conducting research on port cities, particularly Rotterdam’s evolution as Europe’s largest port and its unique inland position. His work explored how industrial infrastructure, public accessibility, and workers’ daily lives intertwine along the urban waterfront. 

At Sasaki, Garrett contributed to public realm and civic projects from concept through construction, including City Hall Plaza in Boston, as well as international campus and planning efforts. At Reed Hilderbrand, Garrett is eager to expand his practice to residential gardens and cultural landscapes. 

Outside the studio, Garrett enjoys gardening, photography, and exploring new neighborhoods with a walking group. A lifelong musician, he plays piano, clarinet, and saxophone, and sang in a choir through college.
